Models are available with either a 2 m (6.5 ) or 9 m (30 ) long aached PVC-covered cable, or a 4-pin M12/Euro-style quick
disconnect (QD) connector. Quick disconnect models (with Q in the model number sux) use MQD9-4.. mang cable (either straight or
right angle connector; see Accessories on page 9). Contact Banner Engineering for the availability of sensor models with 9 m (30 )
long aached cable.

WARNING:
• Explosive Atmospheres/Hazardous Locaons
• The user has the responsibility to ensure that all local, state, and naonal laws, rules, codes, or regulaons
relang to the installaon and use of this Banner device in any parcular applicaon are sased. This
Banner device must be installed by Qualied Persons, in accordance with this document and applicable
regulaons.
• A Qualied Person is a person who, by possession of a recognized degree or cercate of professional
training, or who, by extensive knowledge, training and experience, has successfully demonstrated the
ability to solve problems relang to the subject maer and work.
WARNING:
• Explosion Hazard
• Do not disconnect equipment unless the power has been switched o or the area is known to be non-
hazardous.
CAUTION: Electrostac Discharge (ESD)
Special Condions for Safe Use. Parts of the enclosure are non-conducng and may generate an ignion-capable
level of ESD. Cleaning of the equipment shall be done only with a damp cloth.
General Notes and Condions for Safe Use:
• See Specicaons and Wiring Diagrams for important informaon concerning enty parameters, permissible locaons,
electrical connecons and cercaons.
• In addion to the warning above concerning user responsibility, the installaon must comply with the following:
◦ All installaons must comply with all manufacturer's instrucons.
◦ U.S. Installaons: The relevant requirements of the Naonal Electrical Code
®
(ANSI/NFPA-70 (NEC
®
) and when
appropriate ANSI/ISA-RP12.06.01 Installaon of Intrinsically Safe Systems for Hazardous (Classied) Locaons.
◦ Canadian Installaons: The relevant requirements of the Canadian Electrical Code (CSA C22.1).
◦ ATEX and IECEx Installaons: The relevant requirements of EN 60079-14 and applicable Naonal regulaons.
• Do not aempt any repairs to this Banner device; it contains no eld-replaceable parts or components. Tampering and/or
replacement with non-factory components may adversely aect the safe use of the system.
• Approved Apparatus enty parameters must meet the following requirements:
◦ V
oc
or V
t
≤ V
max
◦ C
a
≥ C
i
+ C
cable
◦ I
sc

• Sensor
Enty Parameters:
◦ V

(Ui) ≤ 15 V dc
◦ I

(li) ≤ 60 mA
◦ P

• Cable
Enty Parameters (if unknown):
◦ C

• The ambient operang temperature range of the Sensors is −40 °C to +70 °C (−40 °F to +158 °F).
• For U.S. installaons, Class II and III, Division 2 applies only to model numbers ending in a Q sux.
• For intrinsically safe installaons, sensors must be used with cered intrinsically safe switching ampliers and barriers
(Approved Apparatus) with intrinsically safe circuits that limit supply voltage and current in the event of failures.
• Associated Apparatus is not required for
installaon of the devices within a Division 2 hazardous (classied) locaon when
installed per the Naonal Electrical Code. The maximum voltage for Division 2 installaon is 15V dc. In Division 2 installaons
(without Associated Apparatus), observe Explosion Hazard warning at the beginning of this secon.
• Associated Apparatus is not required for installaon of the devices within a Division 2 hazardous (classied) locaon when
installed in, or through the wall of a suitable enclosure with provision for connecon of rigid metal conduit per the Canadian
Electrical Code, as acceptable to the local inspecon authority having jurisdicon. The maximum rang for Division 2
installaon is 15V dc, 60 mA. In Division 2 installaons (without Associated Apparatus), observe Explosion Hazard warning at
the beginning of this secon.
• Maximum non-hazardous area voltage that the Approved Apparatus (intrinsically safe circuit) is connected to must not exceed
250V.
